People think that there is only one kind of Texas Holdem Poker out there, internet texas holdem, and they are sadly mistaken. Although you may only play internet texas holdem, when playing in different areas the game play may seem different. I have been playing Texas Holdem Poker for just over 2 years now, and noticed these differences when sitting at live tables.
Online Poker in my opinion is one of the hardest ways to play poker for a good player. The flops tend to change rapidly, along with players hand selection. Whenever I play online it always comes down to the river, low pairs always holding up to monsters, and players tend to hit 3 outters. After a few times of playing i've found Live ring games and live texas holdem tournaments is where I like to play the most. While ring games tend to bring out the bluffers, and variations of hand selections, I've found it easier to get a read on people while sitting with them, rather than over a screen. I've noticed how people try to represent hands when they are defeated and all other types of wierd play. You just have to cut your hand selection down when playing in those games. One thing that always stuck to me was a quote from rounders " Get in with the best, and get out when you dont have the best, your goal is to win one big pot an hour" and i have stuck to that the best way I possibly could. My main passion is tournament Texas Holdem. I have noticed after playing for so long that this is the only type of Poker for me. I like how the play goes, and how some of the players play. There is a lot of luck involved when playing tournaments, but some of the best poker is played in tournaments. Just surviving and having a mound of chips in front of you is the best thing. Once your comfortable with the way you play, and get good enough at Texas Holdem Poker consistantly your ready for all types of Texas Holdem action. |
